Team News, Form and Prediction

After defeat at Bristol City, Des Buckingham’s side picked up five successive draws but have since suffered back-to-back defeats for just the second time this season.

Hull are without a win in five, losing against Norwich and Sunderland before three successive 1-1 draws. However, the Tigers boast an impressive away record, with two wins and two draws from six league games on their travels so far this season.

Oxford don’t have any new injury news but remain without several key players, most notability Cameron Brannagan with the midfield struggling in recent weeks. Buckingham is also short of wingers, so may decide to change shape for this fixture, as he did during the second half against Sunderland.

The Tigers are also hit with several injuries, including Marvin Mehlem, Steven Alzate and Liam Millar.

The last time these sides met was in the 2020/21 League One season. This fixture ended in a 1-1 draw with Hull picking up all three points in the reverse encounter. The Tigers haven’t won on their last 13 visits to Oxfordshire.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Ben Nelson, Elliott Moore, Peter Kioso, Josh McEachran, Ruben Rodrigues, Tyler Goodrham, Mark Harris, Dane Scarlett.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-1 Hull City
