At the base of midfield Sjoeke Nusken has been a near nailed-on starter partnering Wieke Kaptein or Erin Cuthbert depending on fitness. Oriane Jean-Francois started against Twente as the deepest midfielder after making her return to fitness.
Attacking-wise there’s been some rotation but the core remains the same with Guro Reiten, Maika Hamano, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Aggie Beever-Jones, and Mayra Ramirez starting in attacking spots. Baltimore did play as a winger against Twente as it is her natural position.
Chelsea Women Recent Form and Tactics
Sonia Bompastor sets up in an attacking 4-2-3-1 with both full-backs playing high and leaving the defensive midfielders and centre-backs to defend deep. This has been slightly porous lately as the team have gone four consecutive matches without keeping a clean sheet.

Despite this, they have been blasting the doors down on offense, putting five past Tottenham, seven past Crystal Palace, and netting three times against Real Madrid. Nobody has found a way to keep the Blues scoreless which has prompted their unbeaten run with the French coach winning every single match (including friendlies) since taking over from Emma Hayes.
Chelsea Women Injuries to Consider
Sam Kerr, Sophie Ingle, Aniek Nouwen, and Mia Fishel are all long-term absentees with ACL injuries. Niamh Charles dislocated her shoulder in pre-season and is also sidelined. In the latest press conference, it was also confirmed that Lauren James will miss this tie due to injury while Cat Macario isn’t ready. In addition, Kaptein could miss out but a decision won’t be made publicly until the team sheet drops.
