Here are three potentially smart midfielder choices to transfer in ahead of this evening’s FPL Gameweek 9 deadline.
Three Midfielders To Transfer In For FPL Gameweek 9
Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (vs Arsenal) – £12.6 Million
Taken off after 63 minutes in midweek against RB Leipzig no doubt with this weekend’s clash with Arsenal in mind, Mohamed Salah is the Gameweek 9 high-cost midfielder option. Liverpool’s win over Chelsea last Sunday – with Salah getting himself on the scoresheet – extended their winning run in all competitions to eight matches as they continue their reign at the top of the Premier League table.

With their opponents this weekend in the Gunners coming off the back of a marginal 1-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday and losing 2-0 to Bournemouth last Saturday, this is arguably the shakiest Mikel Arteta’s side have looked for some time, and with William Saliba set to begin his three-match suspension for his straight red card against the Cherries, Salah and co. will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a rattled and slightly weakened Arsenal side.
With a goal in each of his last two league appearances vs the London side, captaining Salah as well as bringing him in could also be a shrewd move.
Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford (vs Ipswich Town) – £7.6 Million
Brentford’s most in-form man at present, Bryan Mbeumo finds himself on an impressive scoring run despite his side’s inconsistent set of recent results. The Bees sit 13th after eight matches with just three wins from eight games, but the Cameroonian international’s six goals so far this season will give boss Thomas Frank some hope that he can give the team a boost this weekend as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Manchester United, with the London side welcoming Ipswich Town to the G-Tech Community Stadium.
One of four teams still yet to pick up a win this season, Ipswich have conceded six goals in their last two matches, handing everyone connected to the club a harsh reality check about what Premier League life is like.
In the games Brentford have played this term, they have only lost once when “key man” Mbeumo has scored and with struggling Ipswich coming to town, they should be very confident in bouncing back this Saturday.
Christian Eriksen – Manchester United (vs West Ham United) – £5.4 Million
Fresh off the back of a midweek Europa League goal against Fenerbahce, Christian Eriksen could be a wise cheap option this weekend. Whenever he plays, he rarely lets the team down, and his performance against the Turkish giants will surely see him rewarded with his third consecutive league start this weekend against West Ham United.

After an impressive comeback win over Brentford last weekend, many will be backing United to get themselves another league win and Eriksen could be a big part of that.
