FPL Tips: Three Goalkeepers to Transfer in for Gameweek 9 Including Manchester City Star

With the FPL Gameweek 9 deadline looming, here are a choice of three goalkeepers to transfer in for this weekend.

Three Goalkeepers To Transfer In For FPL Gameweek 9

Ederson – Manchester City (vs Southampton) – £5.5 Million

Handed a rest in midweek as Stefan Ortega took to the field for City’s win over Sparta Prague in the Champions League on Wednesday, Ederson will most likely be back for the match against Southampton.

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t lost to the Saints in the league since 2020 and with the south coast side still without a win this season, it’s unlikely that their fortunes will change on Saturday as City will likely be far too strong for Russell Martin’s side.

Matz Sels – Nottingham Forest (vs Leicester City) – £4.5 Million

The goalkeeper of the second-best defence in the Premier League, Matz Sels continues to show that he can be a valuable FPL asset. Sitting 3rd for clean sheets in the top-flight behind Andre Onana and Alisson, the Belgian is proving himself to be one of Forest’s most valuable players, making some big saves when it matters most and as they head to Leicester this evening still unbeaten away from home, it wouldn’t be silly to bank on Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to continue a run that has established them as one of England’s most impressive travellers.

Mark Flekken – Brentford (vs Ipswich Town) – £4.5 Million

The goalkeeper who has made the most saves in the Premier League this term (45), Mark Flekken could be a busy man this weekend once again. With the Bees conceding 17 shots on target in their last two games, the Dutchman will be desperate for a quiet game sooner rather than later and against Ipswich, he could be in luck.

With the Tractor Boys putting just nine shots on target across their last three games – scoring three times – the Brentford defence will be out to make sure they hand Flekken a bit of respite as they aim to get back on track after last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United.

With keepers awarded a point in FPL for every three shots they save during a match, the chance that Flekken does have to be called into action is entirely possible, but with Ipswich’s lack of threat going forward, the 31-year-old could also be in for a quiet afternoon, so transferring him in could have plenty of upside either way.
