Newcastle United continue their Premier League season as they host Brighton this Saturday, October 19 at 3 PM BST. The Magpies will hope to get off to a flying start after the international break. Here is our Newcastle United predicted lineup.

How Newcastle Have Lined Up Recently

Before the international break, Newcastle reverted to a more regulation lineup in their 0-0 draw at Everton. Anthony Gordon continued to start in the middle of the attack, deputising for Alexander Isak.

Lewis Hall got the nod over Lloyd Kelly as the two keep duelling for that spot at left back. However, Hall is starting to get more starts than his compatriot in the Premier League.

Sandro Tonali also started alongside Bruno Guimaraes as Eddie Howe uses the two talented midfielders in tandem. Harvey Barnes continues to start at left wing and is preferred in that position when he and Gordon are both fit.

Newcastle’s Recent Form and Tactics

The Magpies have only lost once in all competitions this season but will be disappointed to drop points against Everton. The draw featured few chances, but Gordon missed a penalty in the first half. Howe has persisted with a 4-3-3 formation in all of his matches.

They are seventh in the table, just sixth off leaders Liverpool, and are very much in contention for the European places. The season so far has been broken up with international breaks so it has been tricky for the Magpies to gain any momentum.

Brighton have had the fourth-highest average possession in the Premier League so far and should continue this on Saturday. Newcastle, meanwhile, are 11th so could look to rely on their pacy wingers to strike on the counter.

Howe will need to decide whether to reintroduce Isak into the starting lineup following his recent toe injury. If so, Gordon will have to move back to the wing and will compete with Barnes for that spot on the left flank.

Newcastle Injuries and Suspensions to Consider

Kieran Trippier has picked up a hamstring problem and although it is “probably nothing too serious”, he will be out for a few weeks. Lewis Miley is back in training but Howe is wary of rushing him back into action too quickly.

Isak is “in contention for the weekend” after recovering from a broken toe. Fellow striker Callum Wilson is back in training after a back injury but will be assessed closer to the match.

Jamal Lascelles and Sven Botman are both out with long-term injuries. They are unlikely to return to action until 2025
