FPL Tips: Three Defenders to Transfer in for Gameweek 7 Including 'Very Dangerous' Player

The Premier League returns on Saturday with teams looking to strengthen their position in the points table. Last Word on Football recommends three defenders you should consider transferring in for your FPL Gameweek 7 squad, with the deadline set for 11:00 AM BST on October 5.

Three Defenders to Transfer in for FPL Gameweek 7

Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.2m)

Each time Arsenal get a corner kick or free-kick, Gabriel Magalhaes is the player that the opponent’s defence is most frightened of. The Brazilian has been lethal in the air and has scored two goals, one at Etihad and the other at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

In addition to scoring goals, Gabriel is also adept at keeping clean sheets, which will help increase his FPL points. He should have fun playing against Southampton on Saturday. The Saints have conceded 12 goals and sit in 19th place with a goal difference of -9.

Gabriel is aided in his defensive duties by the ever-reliant Declan Rice and William Saliba, who ensure any odd mistakes don’t lead to goal.

Ibrahima Konate (£5.2m)

Ibrahima Konate has been part of one of the best defences in the league this season. He has conceded just two goals and has been solid next to Virgil van Dijk.

Konate has amassed 31 FPL points, bettered (for defenders) only by his teammate Trent Alexander Arnold and Gabriel (Arsenal). He has scored and assisted once. Any FPL player looking for an effective defensive option should go with the Liverpool centre-back, who has been very dangerous in front of the opposition goal.

Against Crystal Palace, he has an excellent chance of securing another clean sheet and boosting his points tally. The Eagles have the second-worst attack in the league, with just five goals scored. This should work in Liverpool’s favour on the weekend.

Lucas Digne (£4.6m) – A Cost-Effective Option for Gameweek 7

Aston Villa’s wait for a clean sheet might finally come to an end on Sunday as they welcome Manchester United to Villa Park. The Red Devils have one of the worst attacks in the league with only Southampton scoring fewer goals than them.

Lucas Digne has made two assists this season and could get more in the upcoming fixture. His ability to play as an attacking full-back is bound to trouble United’s defence, which is not provided enough help by their attackers and midfielders while preventing opposition attacks.

Playing at home should give Aston Villa an advantage over United as they look to strengthen their claim for a top-four spot.
