FPL Tips: Three Midfielders to Bring in for Gameweek Seven Including ‘Exceptional’ In-Form Goalscorer

FPL Tips: Three Midfielders to Bring in for Gameweek Seven Including 'Exceptional' In-Form Goalscorer

Here are the three midfielders who should be brought into FPL teams this weekend before Saturday’s Gameweek Seven 11:00 deadline.

Three Must-Have Midfielders for FPL Gameweek Seven

Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth (vs Leicester City) – £5.7 Million

The low-cost option for this weekend comes in the form of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian international was the star of the show during his side’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Monday, scoring a wonderful goal to make it 3-0 in the first half, taking his league tally for the season to three.

Two of Semenyo’s three goals this season have come against teams 16th and lower in the table, so don’t be surprised to see the 24-year-old strike a cruel blow to another newly-promoted team still looking for their first three points of the campaign.

Gabriel Martinelli – Arsenal (vs Southampton) – £6.9 Million

A goalscorer in his last league outing, Gabriel Martinelli could be an underrated pick for this weekend against a Southampton side who are in a wretched run of form coming into this weekend. A catastrophe of a first half against Bournemouth saw them 3-0 down at half-time last time out, with their sole second-half goal not enough to frighten their fellow South Coast side. Now about to face one of only two sides who remain unbeaten this season, it will be an extremely tough ask for the Saints to end this winless run.

Martinelli has started five of the six league games so far in 2024/25 and, after his goal and assist performance against Leicester in Gameweek Six, Mikel Arteta would be hard-pushed to drop him to the bench for a game that the Gunners are overwhelming favourites to win.

Cole Palmer – Chelsea (vs Nottingham Forest) – £10.7 Million

The highest-scoring midfielder in FPL so far this season (61), Cole Palmer is arguably the Premier League’s second-most in-form player this season behind Erling Haaland. With five goals in his last two games, four coming in Chelsea’s thrilling 4-2 win over Brighton last time out, the “exceptional” Palmer is proving that last season’s 33-goal contribution haul was no flash in the pan, as he’s helped the Blues to three consecutive league wins, making them the best-performing team in that timespan.

With Nottingham Forest making the trip to Stamford Bridge this Sunday, they’ll be the latest team tasked with stopping Palmer and the rest of Chelsea’s talented attacking players; this is no easy feat as Brighton, West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves have found out.

Nominated for September’s Player of the Month, everything seems to be going well for the 22-year-old right now, and more goal contributions this weekend will surely put him as the early favourite for all the awards come the end of the season should he and Chelsea continue on this frightening trajectory.
