England continue their 2024 UEFA Nations League group stages journey with a couple of important games against Greece and Finland in the upcoming October international window. Before that, interim head coach Lee Carsley has named an interesting 24-man squad for the matches.

Dominic Solanke Gets England Call-Up

The most notable inclusion in the England squad is that of Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke, who returns to the international team after seven years! The forward, who was hailed as “fantastic” by Cesc Fabregas earlier this year,  has been rewarded for his impressive form for the Lilywhites and after scoring in their 3-0 win over Manchester United recently.

Carsley has also opted to select a good number of young players to add more variety to his squad. Chelsea defender Levi Colwill returns to the squad. The likes of Angel Gomes and Morgan Gibbs-White, who made their senior debuts under Carsley also get to keep their places in the setup for the next two games.

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Newcastle United)

Defenders: Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), John Stones (Manchester City), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Angel Gomes (Lille), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

Forwards: Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Noni Madueke (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Dominic Solanke (Tottenham)

Which England Players Miss Out On Call-Up?

There are some notable absentees from the squad, including quite a few experienced players who have been snubbed. Carsley has left out experienced centre-back Harry Maguire, who was a regular for the Three Lions in recent years under Gareth Southgate and one of his favoured players. His teammate Marcus Rashford is also left out after a frustrating start to the 2024/25 season.

James Maddison is also snubbed from this squad even after getting three goal contributions (one goal, two assists) from six Premier League appearances. West Ham United forward Jarrad Bowen also fails to get a spot after only scoring one goal in six league games so far.
