FPL Tips: Three Midfielders to Transfer In for Gameweek 5

FPL Tips: Three Nottingham Forest Players to Select for the Opening Game of the 2024/25 PL Season

With Gameweek 5 just around the corner, here are three FPL midfielders to take a gamble on this weekend.

Three Midfielders To Be Considered for Gameweek 5 FPL Squads

Callum Hudson-Odoi – Nottingham Forest (vs Brighton) – £5.4 Million

Fresh off the back of his winning goal at Anfield last weekend that saw him end Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season, Callum Hudson-Odoi finally seems to have refound the talent and form that he showed when he broke through at Chelsea before his Achilles injury.

Alongside Anthony Elanga on the Forest flanks, he has been key to his team’s unbeaten start to the term – an accolade only Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton also still hold after five outings. With Nuno Espirito’s side travelling to face the Seagulls this Sunday, Hudson-Odoi has all the potential to contribute again versus a Brighton side who will see their  0-0 draw against Ipswich last time out as two points dropped.

As Gameweek Five’s cheap midfield option, investing in the winger before a price rise could be a good idea.

Jadon Sancho – Chelsea (vs West Ham United) – £6.3 Million

A forgotten FPL asset following his likewise forgettable spell at Manchester United, Chelsea’s newest shiny toy Jadon Sancho may have caught the eye of FPL managers last Saturday with his performance vs Bournemouth.  Introduced at half-time with the score 0-0, the Englishman put in a shift not witnessed by Premier League fans for some time.

Two out of four dribbles completed, a 92% pass accuracy, two key passes and the assist for Christopher Nkunku’s winner led to a deserved Man of the Match award that will have surely helped his cause in getting a start for the Blues this weekend as they look for a win vs the Hammers that should see them get a bit more comfortable in the top half of the table.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (vs Bournemouth) – £12.7 Million

Despite their loss to Nottingham Forest, Salah should still be a settled name in FPL teams, but for the players who may not yet have him in their squads, now is the time to get him in.

Much like the Egyptian’s crazy record against Manchester United, he also has a similarly impressive one against the Cherries. Since his Anfield arrival in 2017, Salah has played Bournemouth nine times, scoring nine (including a hattrick in 2018) and assisting one, with every goal coming from open play.

With Liverpool also winning 11 of the 14 games they’ve played in England’s top division against their upcoming opponents, all things point to a win for Arne Slot’s side.

The Reds’ 3-1 comeback win vs AC Milan in the Champions League in midweek was the perfect way to erase their Forest loss from their minds and now they’ll be looking to make sure Bournemouth don’t cause them any issues as they hunt for an immediate return to the top of the table should other results go their way.
