Like Oxford, Stoke also have two wins and two defeats from their opening four league games. They began the campaign with a 1-0 win over Coventry before defeats against Watford and West Brom. However, the Potters bounced back with a 1-0 win over Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth last time out.
Steven Schumacher’s side are also through to the third round of the Carabao Cup after wins against Carlisle and Middlesbrough.
Joe Bennett has been ruled out until the end of the calendar year but there could be a return for defenders Elliott Moore and Jordan Thorniley, while wingers Matt Phillips and Przemyslaw Placheta could also be available.
Enda Stevens, Michael Rose, Sam Gallagher, Ben Pearson and Bosun Lawal are all unavailable for the visitors.
These two sides haven’t met since a 1-1 draw at the Manor back in 2001 and the U’s are without a win in the last three. However, Stoke have failed to leave Oxford with a victory in all nine attempts.
Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Greg Leigh, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Ruben Rodrigues, Siriki Dembele, Tyler Goodrham, Mark Harris.
Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Stoke City
