England interim boss Lee Carsley has called up four uncapped players to the senior squad for their country’s upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Interim Carsley Freshens up Three Lions Squad
Lee Carsley, who was appointed England interim boss earlier this month following the departure of Gareth Southgate, has given his side a slight make-over, with the four newly-called up players in Noni Madueke, Angel Gomes, Morgan Gibbs-White and Tino Livramento all having played under Carsley for England’s U21s.

Madueke’s call-up comes off the back of a very strong start to the season, scoring a hat trick for Chelsea against Wolves last weekend, while Gibbs-White and Livramento have played 180 and 148 minutes for Nottingham Forest and Newcastle respectively in the league so far this campaign, with the former scoring the winning goal for Forest against Southampton on Saturday.
Gomes being given an opportunity by Carsley will have surprised many, with the Lille midfielder being given a huge scare on August 17 when he was treated on the pitch against Reims in Ligue 1 for 30 minutes following a head injury, but thankfully he was able to return home later that evening following a hospital assessment.
Southgate’s Regulars Pushed Aside to Accommodate Old Faces
Elsewhere in the squad, Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire and Nick Pope have all been handed a fresh chance for their nation, while Ivan Toney, Marcus Rashford and the 90-capped Kyle Walker have all been omitted from selection.
Rico Lewis and Levi Colwill make a return to the squad, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is selected as a defender by Carsley, an unexpected change following his exploits as a deep-lying midfielder under Southgate.

England kick-off their Nations League journey on September 7 away to Ireland before they host Finland three days later, as Carsley hopes to hit the ground running to give himself the best chance at obtaining the permanent manager position for his country.
