Arsenal Set Conditions for Exit of 'Cult Hero' as Talks Continue With Interested Clubs: Aaron Ramsdale

After failing to find a suitable buyer despite trying hard, Arsenal might have mellowed down their stance on the exit of Aaron Ramsdale who is being linked to Wolves.

Arsenal Open to Aaron Ramsdale Loan Move

Permanent Sale Still Arsenal’s Priority

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are ready to let goalkeeper Ramsdale leave on a loan. However, the Gunners have set some conditions for such a move to be approved.

Arsenal reportedly want the interested clubs to pay an initial fee of more than £5 million. In addition to that, they also want the deal to include an obligation to buy the player at the end of the loan stint.

Though Arsenal are willing to sanction a short-term transfer, they are still said to prefer a permanent sale. The latter scenario will help them to acquire their preferred replacement, Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, for whom they would have to pay the £21 million release clause in full.

Arsenal also want an experienced homegrown player to serve as the third-choice keeper. The Athletic adds that the Ramsdale situation is expected to reach a conclusion before the August 30 transfer deadline.

Which Would Be the Right Club for Ramsdale?

Right now, the clubs that are most interested in Ramsdale are Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Dutch club’s loan proposal was rejected, while Wolves’ offer of a loan with a buy option hasn’t yet been accepted. Talks are still ongoing between the clubs.

Getting into the starting lineup shouldn’t be a problem for Ramsdale at either club since he is arguably better than the current goalkeeping contingent at Ajax and Wolves. Instead, there might be other factors at play.

Joining Wolves means Ramsdale can remain in England, and that would appeal on a personal level. However, the English club can’t offer a chance to play in the European competitions, which Ajax certainly can.

Moreover, at Ajax, Ramsdale will compete for the league title and other major domestic trophies. This would help boost his experience and mentality. Thus, a move to the Johan Cruyff Arena appears to be the better choice.

With David Raya’s stock among the Arsenal fanbase rising with every game, Ramsdale is in danger of becoming a distant memory. A departure might do a world of good for the North London club’s cult hero.
