Liverpool Agree £29.6 Million Deal To Sign 'Fantastic' Euro 2024 Sensation

Liverpool have had an impressive start to their 2024/25 Premier League campaign under Arne Slot and have comfortably won their first two matches. Even though they’re the only Premier League side yet to sign any player in the 2024 summer window, that might not be changing with the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

How Much Will Liverpool Pay For Mamardashvili Transfer?

Romano adds that Liverpool have agreed to a £29.6 million financial package for Mamardashvili’s signing and that a sell-on clause will also be attached to the deal. It’s added that all the necessary documents for the transfer are set to be signed soon, but that the goalkeeper will only be moving to Anfield in 2025. He’s set to spend the entirety of the 2024/25 season with Valencia before embarking on a new journey in his career by joining the Reds next year and also competing for the no.1 spot.

What Did Alisson Say About Mamardashvili Signing?

The arrival of the Georgia goalkeeper in 2025 will definitely be putting pressure on the current Liverpool no.1 Alisson. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been very consistent for the Reds in recent years and kept two clean sheets in as many Premier League games already this season. He doesn’t seem to have any real problem with Mamardashvili’s signing and believes it’s a good move from the club.

He recently spoke to The Telegraph on Liverpool’s links to the goalkeeper and revealed: “I think it was a good idea, I knew about [Mamardashvili] before it came out on social media and that is a good message for me because the club cares about what I think. But they are doing the right thing in my point of view, but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, I will stay.” Mamardashvili, who was hailed for having a “fantastic” Euro 2024 campaign in which he helped Georgia reach the knockout stages, kept 13 clean sheets in 37 La Liga matches last season.
