Fabrizio Romano has given his “here we go” to confirm that the Reds have struck an agreement with the La Liga club for the Georgian goalkeeper’s signing. He claims that the 23-year-old will be undergoing his medical tests soon after deciding to join the Premier League heavyweights.

Romano adds that Liverpool have agreed to a £29.6 million financial package for Mamardashvili’s signing and that a sell-on clause will also be attached to the deal. It’s added that all the necessary documents for the transfer are set to be signed soon, but that the goalkeeper will only be moving to Anfield in 2025. He’s set to spend the entirety of the 2024/25 season with Valencia before embarking on a new journey in his career by joining the Reds next year and also competing for the no.1 spot.

The arrival of the Georgia goalkeeper in 2025 will definitely be putting pressure on the current Liverpool no.1 Alisson. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been very consistent for the Reds in recent years and kept two clean sheets in as many Premier League games already this season. He doesn’t seem to have any real problem with Mamardashvili’s signing and believes it’s a good move from the club.

He recently spoke to The Telegraph on Liverpool’s links to the goalkeeper and revealed: “I think it was a good idea, I knew about [Mamardashvili] before it came out on social media and that is a good message for me because the club cares about what I think. But they are doing the right thing in my point of view, but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, I will stay.” Mamardashvili, who was hailed for having a “fantastic” Euro 2024 campaign in which he helped Georgia reach the knockout stages, kept 13 clean sheets in 37 La Liga matches last season.
