‘Pushing A Lot’: Manchester United Derive New Formula to Make ‘Outstanding’ Signing

'Pushing A Lot': Manchester United Derive New Formula to Make 'Outstanding' Signing: Manuel Ugarte

Jim Ratcliffe has had quite a successful 2024 summer transfer window after signing four different players. He remains in the hunt for a new midfield acquisition and is pushing on all cylinders to sign PSG man Manuel Ugarte for Manchester United.

Manchester United Create Possible Formula for Manuel Ugarte Signing

What Are United Planning to Offer PSG for Ugarte?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Red Devils are actively working on making a proposal to sign Ugarte on loan from the French club for the 2024/25 season with the obligation to sign him on a permanent basis in 2025. The journalist adds that negotiations are continuing in this formula with the Uruguayan’s agent Jorge Mendes leading the talks with PSG to get a green light on the transfer.

The journalist also claims that the 24-year-old midfielder is “pushing a lot” to make this deal happen before the summer transfer window closes. He confirms that personal terms have already been agreed between the Red Devils and Ugarte and he is extremely keen on making the move to Old Trafford.

This is more so because of how the midfielder was left out of the PSG squad in their recent win over Le Havre in the opening game of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign, showing that Luis Enrique doesn’t consider him a quintessential part of the squad anymore.

How Will Manuel Ugarte Fit in at United?

Erik ten Hag is a bit short-staffed when it comes to the defensive midfielder (or number six) slot in his Manchester United squad after seeing Sofyan Amrabat return to Fiorentina following the end of his loan spell at Old Trafford last season. Casemiro remains the only natural defensive midfielder in the squad, but his age makes it a risk to play the Brazilian veteran in every game.

That is why the Red Devils are pushing to sign Ugarte. The Uruguayan midfielder is an efficient number six who can be an excellent play-breaker to stop opposition teams from getting into his side’s box and also help kick-start moves with his passing. The 24-year-old is coming off an impressive Copa America campaign, reaching the semi-finals with Uruguay and was even hailed as “outstanding” by the Uruguayan media for his performance in their 1-0 win over the USA.

United are looking for ways to seal this deal and might be helped by the reported imminent departure of Facundo Pellistri which can open up the space for a new player to fit into the squad.
