‘They Want to Make a Move’: Chelsea Told Conditions to Sign ‘Excellent’ Forward

Chelsea have made a plethora of new signings in the 2024 summer transfer window, but it doesn’t seem like they’re done yet. The Blues continue to be linked to a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and have been told what they must do to move closer to signing him.

What Have Chelsea Been Told of Osimhen Deal?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that during recent conversations between the Blues and Napoli for the potential Romelu Lukaku transfer, the London side have made it clear that “they want to make a move” to sign Osimhen and have him on their transfer wishlist. It’s added that as of this moment, Chelsea have not made a formal offer to the Nigerian forward or his club.

Romano states that the Blues are still in the early stages of their attempts to sign the 25-year-old striker this summer. He also clarified that Osimhen will not be going on loan to the London giants or any other club and will only be sold permanently. The journalist also claims that the forward will not reduce his £9.3 million wage demands and that Chelsea need to work on agreeing personal terms with the striker over his salary before moving into the ‘key stages’ of this transfer saga.

What Can Osimhen Bring to Chelsea?

The reason why Chelsea are so eager to sign a striker like Osimhen is because of his impressive track record of being able to score in double digits every season and win major trophies for his side. The Nigerian forward has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 appearances across all competitions for Napoli, which included 65 goals in 108 Serie A appearances.

He also helped Napoli win the 2023/24 Serie A title and scored over 15 goals across all competitions over the last three seasons. He netted 17 goals last season and also has an impressive international goal record, with 21 goals in 35 appearances for Nigeria. Antonio Conte recently hailed him as an “excellent” forward and Osimhen has all the qualities to be a success story at Chelsea. He should thrive with the likes of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and new signing Pedro Neto feeding him creative passes, as the 25-year-old is a clinical striker who doesn’t need many chances to score and can significantly improve Chelsea’s chances of competing for top honours for years to come.
