Joao Palhinha joined Konrad Laimer in the holding midfield positions, while Kingsley Coman, Gabriel Vidovic, Adin Licina, and Harry Kane made up the front four.
Bayern Munich Recent Form and Tactics
The Bavarians have won four of their last five friendly games, including two narrow victories against Tottenham Hotspur in consecutive matches. None of this can truly be an indication of how things will go in competitive matches of course, thus they must be glad that they have a cup tie before play begins in the Bundesliga on the following weekend.

In terms of tactics, countless former Bayern coaches have tried and failed to implement a formation different from the 4-2-3-1 that Louis van Gaal had put in place all the way back in 2009. Kompany himself seems to also prefer this setup. It will be interesting to see what the former Manchester City player brings to Bayern tactically.

The new coach refused to answer the question regarding injuries in Thursday’s pregame press conference. We know, however, that at least Leroy Sané, new signing Hiroki Ito, and backup keeper Daniel Peretz will definitely miss this match.
