After a three-month break, the English Premier League is about to embark on a new season. On Saturday, Arsenal host Wolverhampton Wanderers in their first game. Last Word on Football brings you three Gunners players who must be a part of your Gameweek 1 squad, with the FPL deadline set for 6:30 PM BST on August 16.
Three Arsenal Players to Start for FPL Gameweek 1
Martin Odegaard (£8.5 Million)
Arsenal’s Captain Fantastic, Martin Odegaard has been a reliable source of firepower for the Gunners ever since he arrived in North London. He racked up 19 goal contributions in FPL last season and was crucial to his team’s record haul of 91 goals.

The Norwegian has been impressive whenever he has faced Wolves, with four goals in six appearances. He can be expected to continue this form on Saturday.
Kai Havertz (£8.0 Million)
Few forwards in FPL are more effective than Arsenal’s Kai Havertz. The German striker can play high up the pitch as well as drop slightly deeper to link up play, thus increasing his chances of getting both goals and assists. Moreover, since the second half of last season, he has looked like a man who has regained his confidence.

Havertz comes at a lesser price than other attackers like Erling Haaland (£15m), Ollie Watkins (£9m), and Alexander Isak (£8.5m). So far, only 13.3% of teams have selected him. This factor can be a game-changer and help those teams easily overtake others in the points table if he has a good game against Wolves.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.0 Million) – A Practical Buy for Gameweek 1
In the pre-season game against Olympique Lyon, Oleksandr Zinchenko was terrific with his passing. He knows the nitty-gritty of the inverted full-back role like the back of his hand. As he occupies a central position, there is a good chance he is more involved in the attack.

With Jurrien Timber’s place in the starting lineup doubtful due to the foot injury he suffered last week, Zinchenko could start on the weekend. He will be aided in his defensive duties by William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. Hence, a clean sheet can be considered likely for the Ukrainian. At just £5 million, he will be a wise selection and can help to go for big-money names in other positions.
