Julian Alvarez Agent to Enter Negotiations on Player’s Future
Discussions Next Week
After numerous rumours this summer about speculated transfers away from the Etihad, including long-serving players such as Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne, another “star” is heavily linked with a move away. After many European giants have enquired about the possibility of signing Alvarez, including Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and PSG, his agent will travel to Manchester to enter discussions about his future, according to Fabrizio Romano. Manchester City will let Alvarez leave, however only if he is sold for his valued price; they won’t accept bids in the region of €40/50m.

Álvarez has played 67 matches for the Citizens, scoring 20 times. In addition to this, in his first season at the club, he won the treble as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina, where he scored against Australia in the round of 16 and two in the semi-final against Croatia. This made him the youngest player since Pele in 1958 to score two goals in a World Cup semi-final.
That being said, ‘La Araña’ failed to start in any of City’s final four games of last season. He would like to be a more prominent member of a European giant. According to Fabrizio Romano, both PSG and Atletico have called his agent since June, possibly numbering his player’s days in Manchester.
Citizens’ Stance on Transfers?
In a recent press conference on their pre-season tour, manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the prospect of interest in Alvarez. He stated “Atletico? I’ve nothing to say. He’s our player, he’s coming back soon…I’ll hug him and congratulate him, and we’ll start to work together. He is our player. I count on him”. That being said, the club as previously stated would be happy to let the Argentinian go, as long as the deal is right. So far, no clubs have reached the amount, but both Atletico and PSG are the frontrunners.

Another two players that have been linked with a move away from the Etihad are De Bruyne and Ederson. It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad were looking at the possibility of signing the latter. However, after Al-Ittihad have just signed Predrag Rajkovic from Mallorca for £11 million, Ederson’s deal is off. Guardiola’s side have already rejected a £25 million offer from Al-Nassr earlier this transfer window for him. Moreover, club vice-captain De Bruyne is also linked with a move away, also to Al-Ittihad. Moreover, Dortmund have “made contact” with representatives from Premier League Champions Manchester City to discuss the conditions for the signing of Yan Couto.
