Bournemouth face Andoni Iraola’s previous club Rayo Vallecano in a pre-season friendly at 3pm UK time on August 4. The match takes place at the Vitality Stadium. Here is our Bournemouth predicted lineup.
Bournemouth Predicted Lineup vs Rayo Vallecano in Penultimate Pre-Season Test
How Bournemouth Have Lined-up Recently
Bournemouth have been pretty textbook in terms of formations in their pre-season tests so far. Andoni Iraola’s 4-2-3-1 has been the favoured shape since his arrival last summer, and it looks set to stay that way for now.
So far, Bournemouth have had two public pre-season friendlies. In both of those, Alex Scott and Jaidon Anthony have been the only two to be named in consecutive starting line-ups. Therefore, this shows that Iraola hasn’t been scared to experiment while the stakes aren’t as high as they will be in the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

So far, we haven’t really seen a “full strength” eleven all on the pitch at once. Perhaps, with the league season kicking off in just under two weeks, expect to see the Cherries start to field stronger squads as the coaching staff begin to narrow down their winning formulas.
Bournemouth’s Recent Form and Tactics
Over the course of the two public pre-season friendlies, we have failed to see Bournemouth secure a victory; they failed to beat Wrexham in a 1-1 draw and lost a penalty shootout at the hands of Arsenal. There was a vast improvement between these games though, as the opening match on the American tour was carried out in a lethargic manner.

The ball speed was slow and it was evident that the manager wasn’t pleased with the performance against the Hollywood-owned club. It was far improved against Arsenal, with a stronger Cherries side being fielded.
Bournemouth Injuries and Absentees to Consider Ahead of Rayo Vallecano Clash
There have been very few fresh injuries that have been picked up since the players returned for pre-season training earlier this summer. Justin Kluivert was believed to be nursing a knock, hence his failings to step over the white lines so far.
Tyler Adams will be absent for a number of weeks, as he is on the road to recovery after having to undergo surgery, following his appearances in Copa America this summer for the USMNT.
Enes Unal will also be unavailable, as he nurses a broken toe suffered while on international duty prior to Euro 2024. Owen Bevan will be out for a few weeks, after being substituted off after half an hour against Wrexham.

Alex Paulsen will only have recently arrived to the South Coast after his group-stage exit at the Paris 2024 Olympics with New Zealand. He might be involved, but given the depth Bournemouth have in the goalkeeping ranks, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him tested out next week against Girona instead.
There has been a lot of speculation over Dominic Solanke’s future, with the former England international being linked to Spurs, however nothing concrete has emerged as of yet. Therefore, expect the Bournemouth goal machine to be involved. We also expect the “exciting” signing Dean Huijsen to make his debut.
Bournemouth Predicted Lineup
Neto, Kerkez, Huijsen, Zabarnyi, Aarons, Cook, Scott, Billing, Ouattara, Semenyo, Solanke.
