Manchester United Set Demands for ‘Impressive’ Defender After ‘Personal Terms Agreed’

Manchester United Set Demands for 'Impressive' Aaron Wan-Bissaka After 'Personal Terms Agreed'

Manchester United are still in the midst of restructuring their squad ahead of the beginning of the 2024/25 Premier League season after giving Erik ten Hag a contract extension. It now appears that they might be closer to selling defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

Manchester United Clarify Demands to West Ham United Over Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Wan-Bissaka Moves Closer to West Ham Move

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that the Hammers have now reached a verbal agreement with the English right-back over a potential summer transfer. He states that “personal terms have been agreed” between the two parties for a five-year contract until 2029 with the London side.

However, there is “no agreement yet” between West Ham and the Red Devils. Plettenberg claims that the Hammers have offered a fee of around £1o million to sign the full-back, whose contract is poised to expire in 2025. It’s added that ten Hag’s side are asking for something around £18 million and that negotiations are ongoing between the two sides over the possibility of reaching a solution. This could also have an impact on Manchester United’s future transfer business in further strengthening their backline.

Who Could Replace Him?

The reason why the Red Devils are open to selling Wan-Bissaka is due to their rumoured chase of Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui. They have reportedly already agreed personal terms with the former Ajax defender and can only sign him once able to sell some of their players. This is why they’re deep into negotiations with the Hammers to offload the “impressive” right-back this summer.

The 26-year-old English defender has been at Old Trafford since 2019 when he arrived from Crystal Palace for a fee of around £45 million. Wan-Bissaka has earned a reputation for his impressive defensive qualities and tackling skills, with James Maddison hailing him as “the best” one-on-one defender in the world last year.

However, his limited skillset and inability to produce goal threat saw him lose the right-back role to Diogo Dalot last season and fail to really shine under Ten Hag. Despite making 190 appearances for the Red Devils, the Englishman seems to be close to his exit from Old Trafford once the two clubs can agree a fee.
