What Did Enzo Maresca Say About Conor Gallagher?

It has already been reported that Atletico Madrid are strongly pushing for the signing of Gallagher, and are looking to get this deal over the line. Fabrizio Romano now reports that Chelsea are in talks with the La Liga club over the potential sale of their youth academy graduate in the summer window.

Amidst this, the Blues’ head coach Maresca refused to rubbish Gallagher’s links to Atletico Madrid as he stated: “At the moment, Conor will be back with us at Cobham in the next days. If the transfer window is open, anything can happen for all the players.”

The journalist has also claimed that negotiations are currently underway between the two clubs over a possible deal. It’s stated that the transfer fee package that is being discussed would be a total of £33.7 million including add-ons and that the England international remains on the priority list of the La Liga club.

Who Could Replace Conor Gallagher at Chelsea?

With there now being a strong chance that Gallagher will leave Chelsea this summer, the Blues have already been working hard to secure a potential replacement for the midfielder. If he ends up leaving Stamford Bridge, then the London side already have a pretty solid like-for-like replacement in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whom they signed earlier in the summer window.

The reason why Gallagher is being linked with an exit from the Blues is because he’s moved into the final year of his contract with the club and has not been able to extend it yet. Even though he made 50 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists, Chelsea are open to selling their academy graduate who was hailed as “unselfish” by Declan Rice during the Euro 2024 campaign.
