Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Updates on Goalkeepers, Samu, Kellyman & More

Djordje Petrovic claims a cross against Luton

It’s been a busy Friday for fans as both Nizaar Kinsella and Matt Law (via London is Blue & The Telegraph) have been providing Chelsea transfer rumours and updates on the club’s activity with news provided across the board on various positions and targets.

Chelsea Transfer Rumours on July 19

Samu Omorodion

While the trail went cold on Samu Omorodion for a bit, the Atletico striker was talked about by Law during his appearance on the London is Blue podcast. The reporter indicates that the young attacker ticks a lot of the boxes that the Blues are looking for.

He does pour some water on the deal though, making it seem like a deal is only feasible if Conor Gallagher went the other way. If that was on the table though, the journalist does seem to indicate that the Chelsea decision-makers would be on board with the move.

Omari Kellyman

After joining from Aston Villa there was some pause as to where the young man fit in under Enzo Maresca. Both the midfield and attacking slots are rife with competition which will make it difficult for Kellyman to see the pitch all that much.

Law seems to agree as he states that the 18-year-old will be given his chance to impress in pre-season and will likely decide to loan him out after.

Robert Sanchez

Across two seperate updates, Sanchez was a topic of discussion. First on the podcast, Law spoke about the goalkeeper and how he has to impress in pre-season. The belief is that the Englishman is the number one goalkeeper but that could change if his distribution is lacking.

Later, in a piece for the Telegraph, the story changed slightly as new information came to lighting indicating that the club wanted to sign a goalkeeper to compete with Sanchez, presumably to push him to perform at his best.

Djordje Petrovic & Replacements

With the Telegraph’s update, questions turn to Djordje Petrovic who spent most of last season as the starting goalkeeper for the Blues. We turn our attention to Kinsella this time who states that the Serbian could be sent to Genoa, it’s unclear whether this would be a loan or a permanent move for the 24-year-old.

In his place, links have been renewed to Filip Jorgensen and Giorgi Mamardashvili from La Liga clubs Villarreal and Valencia respectively. Links to Andriy Lunin were dismissed by the Telegraph as the Real Madrid man reportedly doesn’t fit the profile that Chelsea want.
