Arsenal’s ‘Exciting Offensive Talent’ Receives Interest From London Rivals

The winger position at the Emirates is expected to witness some significant changes as Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson hopes to secure a transfer move with West Ham as a possible destination.

Reiss Nelson Attracting Interest From West Ham

Reiss Nelson Looking Towards the Exit Door

According to the latest reports from The Telegraph, Nelson is looking to leave Arsenal with West Ham showing interest in the attacker. The Hammers are planning to sign another winger alongside Luis Guilherme, who joined them from Palmeiras in a £25 million deal.

With Nelson’s contract having three more years left, Arsenal might expect a fee of £15-20 million. The money received will help them comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Arsenal have been looking to offload the fringe players to make space for new signings. They have put the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, and Aaron Ramsdale up for sale, in addition to Nelson.

Nelson, who signed a new contract in July 2023, was praised by Mikel Arteta as anexciting offensive talent“. He said:Reiss is a player I have admired since the first day I was here. He has tremendous ability and is such an exciting offensive talent.”

Why Does Nelson Want to Leave Arsenal?

Despite the praise from Arteta, Nelson has seen very little playing time at Arsenal. The winger made just one league start in 2023/24, with his other 14 appearances coming from the bench. He has a better chance of getting more starts at West Ham.

His progress has been hindered by the rise of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Arteta prefers them, along with Leandro Trossard, over Nelson. Hence it would be difficult to see the 24-year-old remain at Arsenal for next season.

Besides, if the Gunners fulfill their plan to bring in another winger it would sound the death knell for Nelson’s Arsenal future. The North London club have shown some serious interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Pedro Neto and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
