Harry Kane Commits to England for the Next Two Years
Sources Close to Kane Debunk Rumours
Matt Law has revealed that, from sources close to the player, Kane will not retire from international football in the next two years. They point to his record-breaking 44-goal 2023/24 season as proof that the man turning 31 this month is still in his prime. He will lead England in the September international break, and he aims to remain their starting striker in the United States for the 2026 World Cup.

There have been rumours and debates surrounding the matter, as the captain saw his side fall short at yet another major international tournament. Kane struggled, often becoming very isolated and dropping far too deep – though this may be a problem with the system rather than the player.
Meanwhile, back-up strikers Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney shone in their short cameos. Their runs in behind made a significant difference, leading some to suggest that Kane should be dropped, or even retire from international football. However, it is now clear that this will not be the case.
Do England Have a Striker Problem?
Gareth Southgate has an abundance of quality strikers at his disposal: Kane is world-class, Watkins matched Erling Haaland’s combined goals and assists tally, Toney had a strong Euros, and even Dominic Solanke is coming off the back of a 21-goal season.

However, by World Cup 2026, Kane will be almost 33, Watkins and Toney 30, and Solanke 28. There is no clear, long-term heir to be England’s number nine for the future. We could well see a young star rise in the next two years, but Kane’s boots will be incredibly hard to fill after eight years of consistency and quality up front.
