Chelsea are in the midst of significantly reshaping their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season to ensure that new head coach Enzo Maresca has the best options to work with. But it seems there is still some uncertainty over the future of left-back Marc Cucurella.

Does Cucurella’s Agent Comments Impact His Situation?

The Spanish full-back has been enjoying a really good Euro 2024 campaign with Spain, helping them get all the way to the final. Cucurella’s agent, Aleix Pique,  recently hinted that his client’s long-term future remains at Chelsea and stated: “Cucurella is very comfortable and happy at Chelsea and in London His idea is to stay at the club. Under normal circumstances, he will continue there.”

Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that the defender is going to “consider his options” if he gets an indication that the Blues are aiming to sell him. For the time being, however, it is stated that the situation over Cucurella’s future is really quiet and that there have been no talks with any club to sell him. The journalist insists that the London heavyweights are happy with the Spanish full-back right now, but that the possibility of an exit could be on the table if they receive a major proposal to let him leave.

How Has Chelsea’s Transfer Window Gone So Far?

Chelsea have been quite proactive in terms of strengthening their squad in the 2024 summer transfer window. They have been able to bring in English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Maresca’s former side Leicester City to bolster their midfield line.

They have also signed a number of promising young talents, including Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa and young forward Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The Blues might face a fight to hold onto midfielder Conor Gallagher beyond the summer window as Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in him. But when it comes to Cucurella, it doesn’t look like Chelsea have any intention to letting him go. The Spaniard, who has been hailed for his “outstanding” performances in Euro 2024, made 26 appearances for the Blues last season and contributed to three goals (one goal, two assists).
