Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal for September 15

Tottenham Hotspur are in the midst of reshaping Ange Postecoglou’s squad before the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, and that involves signing and selling players. It now looks like Spurs are being firm on what they’d need to sell defender Emerson Royal.

How Much Do Spurs Want to Sell Emerson?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that AC Milan are still working to sign the Brazilian full-back in the summer window. He states that “no agreement yet” because of the Italian side not being able to match Tottenham’s financial demands to let their player go.

The journalist claims that Milan had a bid lower than £12.6 million rejected by the Lilywhites, who stand firm on their demands. Spurs are expecting a much improved bid from the Serie A side and are holding out for around £16.8 million to sanction the exit of Emerson. Romano also states that the full-back had already agreed on personal terms for a five-year contract with the Rossoneri in May and is ready to make the move to Italy.

What Does Emerson Have to Say About His Future?

Even though he has not directly referred to his interest in a move to AC Milan, Emerson has recently hinted at his desire to embark on a new journey in his career. Speaking about his future to Brazilian outlet Globo recently, he stated: “I want to play on regular basis, I don’t want to sit on the bench. I’ve always been professional but I also told the coach at Spurs that I want to play, otherwise I’ve to look at other options. AC Milan? It’s a reference for all Brazilians.”

Emerson failed to become a regular under Postecoglou at Tottenham and only made 24 appearances for the Lilywhites last season, mostly playing as a left-back. He has made 101 appearances for Spurs since joining them from Barcelona in 2021 and is close to ending his tenure in North London. Spurs have already sold defender Joe Rodon to Leeds United this summer and allowed players like Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele, and Japhet Tanganga to leave after the expiration of their contracts.
