Spain Predicted Lineup vs France for July 9

Spain manager Luis De la Fuente during a press conference

This is a Spain predicted lineup for the semi-final of Euro 2024. The heavyweights of international football will take on a talented French team who have a lot to live up to after their World Cup heartbreak.

Spain Predicted Lineup vs France

How Spain Have Lined Up Recently

After a one-off bit of rotation to get the bench players a game, the first eleven has gone back to largely the same set group that started the first two group outings. Unai Simon is the clear first-choice goalkeeper. The starting back four has been set since the tournament started as Dani Carvajal, Robin Le Normand, Aymeric Laporte, and Marc Cucurella. This will have to change due to some absences.

The midfield three will also have to change due to an injury which will upset some fans as Pedri, Rodri, and Fabian Ruiz have been operating really well in the middle of the park. The attack is the only part left unscathed as all three starters of Alvaro Morata, Lamine Yamal (who is living up to pre-tournament billing as one to watch), and Nico Williams should be good to go for this one.

Spain Recent Form and Tactics

Luis de la Fuente has stuck with a 4-3-3 until now and it has garnered results. His side got through the group stage with a spotless record of all wins without a goal conceded. This has been dented with both Georgia and Germany scoring on them, but they’ve managed to grind out results either way.

The, almost underrated, thing about this team is definitely their firepower. Defensive solidity saw them waltz through the group but they then put four past Georgia in a statement win. They have now found the net in eight consecutive fixtures after being kept blank against Colombia in a friendly earlier this year.

This goal rush has come despite main striker Morata netting just once in the Euros so far. The strikes have been largely spread out with midfielders leading the way for the squad as two different CMs have scored twice in the tournament.

Spain Absences to Consider

Pedri suffered an unfortunate injury against Germany and will miss this tie. That is one important piece down. Unfortunately for De La Fuente, he will also be without Carvajal and Le Normand who are both absent with suspensions. This is where the previous rotation can hopefully come in handy as there are players ready to go to step into these spots.

Spain Predicted Lineup

The three players unavailable should open up spots for previous starters like Nacho, Jesus Navas, and Dani Olmo. There’s unlikely to be any other switches as the manager looks to keep some consistency in a team that has played well all tournament.
