Chelsea have had really eventful 2024 summer transfer window so far and look to be transforming their squad ahead of the first season under new head coach Enzo Maresca. It now looks like they are open to selling young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka for the right price.

How Much Do Chelsea Want To Offload Chukwuemeka?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are insisting on the stance of not letting the 22-year-old midfielder leave on a season-long loan for the upcoming campaign. He adds that every loan offer that has been tabled for Chukwuemeka over the last few months has been rejected by the club because they don’t want to send him out on a short-term deal.

The journalist further claims that there is a £40 million release clause that is inserted into the midfielder’s contract. That means if a team are able to pay that significant amount for him, then they could have a chance at taking him away from Chelsea.

This comes amid reports that AC Milan are targeting a move for the 22-year-old and that they have begun negotiations with the Premier League club over him. But the Rossoneri have not yet shown a desire to pay big bucks to sign him, leading to further questions about the Englishman’s future.

What Have Chelsea Done In the Summer Transfer Window So Far?

The Blues have been working hard to improve their squad, mostly for the long-term, in the summer transfer window so far. They have signed a number of talented youngsters like Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian aka Messinho, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa and also Barcelona youth graduate Marc Guiu. They have also brought in Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City to improve certain areas of the squad.

But it appears that Chelsea are still not fully sold on the future of Chukwuemeka at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old midfielder, who was hailed for having an “unbelievable” first touch last year, made 12 appearances for the Blues in the 2023/24 season and had three goal contributions (two goals, one assist) across all competitions.
