Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Red Devils are in active talks with the Dutch forward’s representatives over a potential move. He adds that the English heavyweights are trying to come to an agreement over the contractual terms that Zirkzee will be ready to accept for the deal to go through.

The journalist notes that the Manchester United board are having internal discussions over this transfer and that AC Milan have not yet given a green light to the deal because of the 24-year-old’s representative’s commission fees. It has already been reported that the Netherlands international has a £33.8 million release clause in his contract that will be active in this summer window, which can make him a bargain signing for the Red Devils.
What Have Bologna Officials Said About Zirkzee?
Bologna appear to have accepted that they’ll probably lose their star forward this summer as Romano mentions a quote from their technical director Riccardo Santori claiming that Zirkzee “will 99.9% leave this summer”. Here is what the director also had to say: “I have known the market for many years and I believe there is a strong possibility that he could leave. He is a great player and attackers are highly sought-after. We’ve been thinking about it for months because replacing him will be very difficult, but we’ll try. We have a few names and we’ll work to replace him.”

The 24-year-old forward, who has been hailed for his “really spectacular” technical ability, is currently part of the Dutch squad that is fighting to win Euro 2024. He is likely to make a final decision on his future once his nation’s campaign is over. Zirkzee enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 season with Bologna, having scored 12 goals and provided seven assists for them across all competitions.
