How Brazil Have Lined Up Recently

The Selecao mostly lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson in goal. Dorival has made only one change in defence by choosing to bring in Wendell for Guilherme Arana at left-back in their second game against Paraguay.

Following an impressive cameo in a goalless draw against Costa Rica, Savio came in for the second game as Dorival favoured a bolder approach. The decision paid off as the 20-year-old opened his Copa America scoring account with a goal shortly before the halftime break. The midfield trio of Joao Gomes, Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta remained unchanged and rightly so with the West Ham midfielder registering a goal and an assist in the clash against Paraguay.

Rodrygo has played as an unconventional striker, with his teammate Vinicius Junior to his left.

Brazil’s Recent Form and Tactics

After drawing 0-0 with Costa Rica, Dorival’s men sprung into life with a dominating 4-1 win over Paraguay. Ballon d’Or contender, Vinicius,  scored a brilliant brace. Paqueta also registered his first goal of the campaign by scoring a penalty in the 65th minute and grabbed an assist. This emphatic win was the fifth time that Brazil have come out victorious against Paraguay since June 2015, when the Selecao lost out on penalties.

In a game filled with chances against Costa Rica, Brazil failed to convert which tempted head coach Dorival to bring on Savio as well as Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick. With 20 minutes left to play, Manchester City’s latest signing wasted no time in making an impact by completing six successful dribbles and creating one big chance in the game. His impressive performance earned him a start against Paraguay which he gladly responded by scoring his first goal in the competition.

Dorival’s men displayed why they’re top contenders to win this year’s Copa America, and with their next game against Colombia, we expect them to line up in their consistent 4-3-3 formation for this huge clash in Santa Clara.
