Arsenal are still planning on their ideal 2024 summer window and are yet to sign any player to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad. They haven’t even been able to sell any players, but are now going to get a surprising financial boost through the sale of Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson.
Arsenal Ready To Benefit From Omari Hutchinson’s Move To Ipswich Town
How Will Arsenal Get Boost From Omari Hutchinson Exit From Chelsea?
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea have agreed to permanently sell the 21-year-old winger who was praised by Pele as a youngster to the newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town ahead of the new season. But it’s now also being stated that Arsenal will receive their share of the money from the deal as well.

Hutchinson had quite an eventful youth career. He initially joined Chelsea as a five-year-old before moving to Charlton Athletic’s youth set-up at the age of nine. The winger would then join Arsenal in 2015 (at the age of 12) and spent seven years in the Gunners’ youth structure before re-joining Chelsea in 2022. However, he failed to make a breakthrough at Stamford Bridge and will now be permanently sold to Ipswich Town, where he impressed on loan last season.
Romano claims that Arsenal will receive around 15% or 20% of the total fee for which the youngster will be sold – because of a sell-on clause they added upon selling him to Chelsea in 2022. The Blues will likely get around £22.5 million (including add-ons), meaning the Gunners could get as much as £3.37 million to £5 million, which they can potentially add to their summer transfer budget.
Who Have Arsenal Been Linked With?
The Gunners are looking to bolster their forward line ahead of the new season. Mikel Arteta’s side has been linked with eyeing a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto or Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, but are reportedly facing complications in signing either of them. Arsenal are also interested in a move for Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres, but nothing is advanced yet.

Arsenal worked hard in the development of Hutchinson and he even made a combined 46 appearances for their under-18 and under-21 teams, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists in the period. The Englishman was also able to meet Pele and earned praise from him when playing in a youth tournament for the Gunners.
Despite that, the lack of first-team opportunities compelled the winger to leave for Chelsea, but not before Arsenal’s management added that clever sell-on clause for future benefits. Hutchinson, who scored 10 goals and provided six assists in the Championship last season to help Ipswich get promoted, is poised to have his breakthrough in the Premier League next season. The Stamford Bridge club are said to rate Hutchinson highly, so his departure could be seen as somewhat of a surprise with Arsenal collecting an unexpected fee for this departure.
