David Ornstein reports that Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Dewsbury-Hall this Summer. The 25-year-old is seen as aperfect fitfor the club’s preferred style of play, and it is believed that the player iskeen to jointhe Blues as well. These will be key factors in the conclusion of this transfer saga, as the player was initially intended to join Brighton, in a player plus cash exchange which would have seen Jakub Moder and £25 million travel the other way. The new Chelsea head coach, Enzo Maresca, has experience working with the Englishman from his time at Leicester City last season. If a transfer were to go through, Dewsbury-Hall would be presented with the opportunity to continue his development under the same manager. Additionally, his familiarity with the tactics and system will be of use to the London club, as they transition to a new style of player under new management.

A Strong Season with Leicester

Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed a strong season with Leicester last year, making 49 appearances and recording an impressive 12 goals and 15 assists across all competitions. His standout performances earned him the Leicester City Men’s Player of the Season award and a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season. He was a cut above the rest in the competition, and whilst the Premier League is a much bigger step up, the midfielder was still playing an important role for his team when they were in the Premier League – albeit without the high goals and assists tallies.

However, the player has a lot of admirers, especially in the Premier League. In the January 2024 transfer window, Brighton were in negotiations for a deal, but were unwilling to meet Leicester’s demands of £30 million; Arsenal, Brentford, and Fulham were all also linked. With that in mind, Chelsea could face some competition from Premier League rivals in the race for Dewsbury-Hall’s signature.
