Manchester United have held talks with PSG over several players, including Manuel Ugarte. The French outlet would be willing to discuss a deal should a suitable proposal arrive, but they are not willing to let the player go on loan.
Manchester United Make Contact With PSG for Manuel Ugarte
Yet to Make a Formal Bid
Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United have “made contact” with PSG over several players, including Ugarte as a possibility for this Summer. It has been made “very clear“ by the selling club, that they will not allow the player to leave on loan.
However, they would be open to discussing a permanent transfer, if a suitable bid were to be made. In contrast to the team’s stance, the Uruguayan was asked about rumours of a potential exit, and he responded by saying that he’d “love to stay“.

In the Summer of 2023, there was an intense race for the then-Sporting talent. PSG and Chelsea were at the forefront in the chase for his signature, but the latter eventually pulled out of negotiations after the former activated a €60 million release clause. Ugarte penned a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants to end the transfer saga, but just a year later, he is seemingly back on the market.
Manchester United’s Casemiro Replacement
Ugarte has previously been compared to the likes of Fabinho and the “next Casemiro”. He could be the ideal successor to the latter at Manchester United. The 23-year-old is well regarded for his special defensive qualities and his eagerness to break up play and is often described as a destroyer in midfield.
He could offer well-needed stability in midfield – something that was missing in Ten Hag’s squad last season. Additionally, his age profile blends well with the board’s future project for the club. Alongside 19-year-old starlet, Kobbie Mainoo, fans could see a formidable partnership develop for years to come.
