Fabrizio Romano reveals that Ten Hag is expected to sign a new contract at Manchester United, with a deal “almost agreed“; Negotiations between agents on details will advance to the final stages. The club is also expected to see big changes to the staff setup, with Ruud van Nistelrooy seen as a “strong candidate“.

Before the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City, it was reported that the manager would be sacked regardless of the result of the fixture. However, with the Red Devils fighting against all the odds to claim the trophy and a victory over local rivals, it seems the club has had a change of heart.
It was then confirmed that Ten Hag would stay for at least another season, and with talks progressing well, it is now believed that both parties will commit to the project.
Interest in Van Nistelrooy
Van Nistelrooy was recently approached over a potential staff contract, to join the backroom team. The Manchester United legend took his first senior coaching position with PSV, where he won the 2023 Johan Cruyff Shield and the 2022/23 KNVB Cup. However, due to a lack of support, he resigned from his role with just one game remaining of the 2022/23 season.

Alongside interest from his former club, Van Nistelrooy is also reportedly a “strong candidate” to be the new Burnley manager, following Vincent Kompany’s departure. A potential coaching role in English football could be an enticing option, but a return to Manchester to help develop a project alongside Ten Hag could also make for a memorable story.
