In recent friendlies, Dorival has favoured a 4-3-3 formation. Bento started in goal during their narrow 1-0 win against England, and a thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain. But in the June friendlies, Dorival preferred Alisson Becker as first choice in wins against Mexico and the USA.

With Manchester United’s Casemiro not picked in this year’s Copa America, 30-year-old Marquinhos will captain the Selecao from the heart of the defence. The PSG defender was paired with teammate Lucas Beraldo in a tight draw with USA. Dorival’s preferred full back will be Juventus right-back Danilo and Porto left-back Wendell. The midfield trio remains untouched with Joao Gomes, Lucas Paqueta, and Bruno Guimaraes starting three of four friendlies leading up to the tournament.
Fans would love to see Endrick light up the tournament as a starter against Costa Rica: the “wonderkid” has scored three goals in his last four appearances for Brazil. However, he will have to be patient with the preferred front three being Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, and Raphinha.
