Chelsea Aware of Release Clause

Chelsea reportedly have genuine interest in the Boca Juniors center-back, and are monitoring him alongside many other youth prospects. The 19-year-old has a roughly £20 million release clause in his contract, though a formal proposal is yet to be made.

Anselmino is just one of the many talents named as potential signings for Chelsea in Todd Boehly’s youth project. The London club is also close to confirming the signing of Brazilian talent Estevao from Palmeiras, and have recently shown interest in Crysencio Summerville, Jhon Duran, and Samu Omorodion. Plenty more talents, particularly from South American clubs, have been linked with and signed for Chelsea over the last few transfer windows.

Who is Anselmino?

The 2005-born talent has been dubbed the great jewel of Boca Juniors by Argentina news outlets. He has climbed up through his club’s youth ranks, joining the first team in January 2024.

He has only managed 5 appearances in all competitions in the 2024 season, although he was struggling with a muscle injury that had him sidelined for 11 games. Primarily a centre-back, Anselmino is right-footed and stands at 6 foot 1.

With a contract running up until December 2028, Boca Juniors holds plenty of leverage should any club make a proposal. As mentioned earlier, the player does have a rumoured £20 million release clause.

At this stage, given the lack of senior playing experience, it is difficult to justify such a price tag, and it would be surprising to see a top European club jump at this transfer. Nonetheless, the Blues are no strangers to spending on unproven talent and they could well make a move for defender this Summer.
