Conor Gallagher Clarifies Situation Around Chelsea Future
What Did Gallagher Have To Say About Aston Villa Links?
The 24-year-old midfielder has recently been reported to be attracting strong interest from Aston Villa, who held preliminary talks with the Blues over the possibility of signing their youth academy product. However, Gallagher is refusing to add fuel to the fire in this aspect, as he spoke about the rumours ahead of Euro 2024 and explained: “I’m a Chelsea player right now and I’m just thinking about England and the tournament.

“It’s not difficult. I’m away with England and I couldn’t be happier with the position I’m in. I’ve just been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me and the country. I’m hoping I can help the team more on the pitch in this tournament.”
The Chelsea midfielder also spoke about Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from the team at the end of the 2023/24 season, reflecting: “Pochettino has done so much for me. I was sad, sad for him and the coaching staff. Credit to Pochettino for what he has done for me. He has given me a lot of responsibility and trust at Chelsea and it puts me in a better position to be a bigger part of the squad for this tournament.”
Gallagher Looking Forward To Euro Success
The English midfielder is currently focused on the prospect of featuring heavily for Gareth Southgate’s side in Euro 2024. He will, however, have to fight hard and outperform many players in training sessions and on the field to become a regular in the England XI throughout the tournament because of the sheer level of competition in the squad. He’s had 13 caps for the Three Lions in his career so far, producing just one assist.

On the other hand, Chelsea are trying to get some business done with Aston Villa and are reportedly pushing to sign their young forward Jhon Duran in the summer window. They are, however, yet to come to any agreement over the possible transaction involving Gallagher. The 24-year-old midfielder, who was hailed as “priceless” by Pochettino last season, scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 50 appearances for the Blues in the 2023/24 campaign.
