Bitter rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are set to battle it out for the services of 18-year-old French centre-back Lény Yoro, reports David Ornstein.
English Football Rivals Both Keen on Young French Starlet Yoro
Premier League Giants Target Lény Yoro
Yoro, lit up Ligue 1 this season with a series of commanding performances as Lille earned a respectable fourth-place finish under Paolo Fonseca. He is now a target for European champions Real Madrid and French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The young Frenchman is out of contract at the end of next season, therefore this summer represents Lille’s last chance to fetch a sizeable fee for the player.

Liverpool and Manchester United are setting out to strengthen in defence this summer, with the former until the new management of Dutchman Arne Slot and the latter looking for defensive reinforcements following the departure of Raphael Varane on a free transfer.
There is a desire amongst both camps to try and do a deal as quickly as possible, knowing that Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid will eventually enter the equation and, as Spanish and European champions that could provide a ready-made winning environment with a significant French-speaking contingent, perhaps providing a bigger pull than the two English clubs in question. In addition, the young starlet was at Wembley Stadium to see Los Blancos’ Champions League triumph almost two weeks ago.
Lény Yoro Impresses
Yoro made 32 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring twice and forming a resilient partnership alongside Bafode Diakité, their displays ensuring that the team ended the season with the joint third-best defensive record.

Lille’s president Olivier Letang, has confirmed this week that Yoro and star striker Jonathan David will be allowed to leave the club this week, provided their valuation of both players is met.
