Leicester City are planning for a triumphant return to the Premier League after winning the 2023/24 Championship. Now it appears their inspirational forward Jamie Vardy will remain in the squad, after agreeing to a new contract.

What Did Vardy Have To Say On His New Deal?

The Foxes have confirmed that the 37-year-old forward has agreed to sign a new one-year contract that will run until the end of the 2024/25 season. His previous deal was expected to expire at the end of the 23/24 campaign, but the veteran striker has opted to stay with Leicester and have another go at troubling Premier League defenders in the upcoming campaign.

Vardy is delighted to have signed a new contract with Leicester and told their official website:To get the numbers that I did [last season], I’m delighted with it, but there’s still more to come. I look after myself. I’ve always said that age is just a number. My legs feel fine so that’s why I carry on until my legs saythat’s it, game over’. There will be a day when that comes, but that’s not right now. We look forward to another season in the Premier League and seeing what we can do. One hundred per cent, it’s the best league in the world. That’s where you want to be playing your football.”

Vardy Poised To Make Premier League Return

The 37-year-old striker, who joined Leicester City back in 2012, was able to taste Premier League promotion with them for the second time after Enzo Maresca’s side clinched the Championship title at the end of last season. Even though the Italian gaffer has now left the Foxes, Vardy is focused on making a major impact in what could be his final season in the Premier League. He has already created a ton of memories in the English top flight, including his heroics for his side in the 2015/16 Premier League title-winning season.

Vardy scored in 11 straight Premier League games in the 15/16 campaign, setting a new record in doing so. He has a pretty solid goal-scoring record in the division, having scored 136 goals and provided 45 assists in 307 Premier League matches. The 37-year-old, who was hailed for hisamazingcontribution to the Foxes’ success in the previous campaign, scored 20 goals in 37 appearances to help his side achieve promotion.
