Arsenal are in the hunt to strengthen their squad with more quality, clinical players after missing out on the 2023/24 Premier League title to Manchester City. Amid all this, they have found an update on the future of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Arsenal Linked Bruno Guimaraes Make Statement On Newcastle United Future
What Did Guimaraes Have To Say About His Future?
Arsenal are reported to have an interest in battling Manchester City for the signing of the Brazilian midfielder this summer. This comes amid rumours that they might be ready to sell Thomas Partey and replace him with a quality midfielder to fit into that no.6 role and allow Declan Rice to play in a more advanced role.

Guimaraes also reportedly has a £100 million release clause in his contract that will become active this summer, allowing a club to potentially sign him by paying the clause. The 26-year-old midfielder recently spoke on the questions around his future and if he feels that the need to balance their finances to comply with Financial Fairplay Rules could force Newcastle to sell him. He told TNT Sports: “Look, my future, to be honest, is in God’s hands. I have a contract with Newcastle, I’m very happy, as I said, I know how much they like me, I know everything I’ve been doing for the club.
“In short, I have a contract, I’m happy. I don’t know what can happen, we know everything about Financial Fair Play, but what I can say is that I feel happy. It’s nice to see my name linked with big clubs, it means I’m doing my job well but I’mnot worried.”
Who Else Are Arsenal Targeting?
The Gunners have not yet made any concrete offers to sign Guimaraes, but they have been linked to other targets. Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly pushing for the signing of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko amid the manager’s desire to sign a prolific forward who can add more goals to his squad next season.
Apart from this, Arsenal are reportedly looking for a new left-back signing after Oleksandr Zinchenko’s inconsistent performances last season. With that being said, the signing of Guimaraes can particularly be a masterstroke for the Gunners and help them build a stronger midfield line. The Brazilian, who was hailed as “exceptional“ last year, scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for the Magpies last season and showed his quality with his impressive passing ability, defensive attributes, and composure in midfield.
