After a disappointing season at club level, a handful of Bayern Munich players are still trying to win a title this year with their national teams. Last Word on Football takes a look at Bayern players nominated for Euro 2024, as plenty of them have at least made the provisional rosters of their respective nations as of this writing.
Bayern Players Nominated For Euro 2024
Germany
Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller have each made the host nation’s provisional squad. Of those six German Bayern players nominated for Euro 2024, Pavlović is clearly the main surprise inclusion.
The 20-year-old holding midfielder has no senior international caps. He was in fact not even part of the Bavarians’ first team, until injuries and illnesses left then-coach Thomas Tuchel no choice but to give him a chance there in the autumn. The youngster made quite an impression there early on, but he did not necessarily ever become first choice. But he is such a talented player that the German federation might have felt pressured to call him up, before Serbia, his family’s nation of origin had a chance.

Despite a few recent errors, and his lack of international appearances since the 2022 World Cup, which came just before his horrific skiing accident, Neuer was an obvious choice in goal for Germany. He may be 38 years old, but his leadership and his unique style of play make the sweeper-keeper still incredibly valuable for club and country.
Kimmich too should be a key figure in the German side. The same goes for Musiala, despite his recent injuries. Sané on the other hand is a bit of a surprise inclusion, due to his lack of consistency and the fact that he has played with pain for months now.

Last but certainly not least, Müller’s experience could be key at this Euros for the hosts, he may lack the stamina he once had, but he’s still quite a presence on the pitch. Knowing that he can’t expect to always start anymore, he is still a valuable asset in the team and the locker room as well.
France
“Les Blues” are the only other country besides the Germans to have two or more Bayern players nominated for Euro 2024 for now. They are Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman. Honestly, both are something of a surprise inclusion. Upamecano had a poor season, while Coman was mostly injured of late and still may miss out on the final roster due to injury.
Other Teams:
Matthijs de Ligt (Netherlands), Konrad Laimer (Austria) and Harry Kane (England) are the other Bayern players nominated for Euro 2024. One can only hope that Kane gets fit in time for the tournament.
