Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs. Manchester City for May 25

Manchester United Add Premier League 'Veteran' to Transfer List After Huge Injury Blow

Manchester United face off against their local rivals Manchester City on May 25 at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final. This will be the second year in succession – the two Manchester giants have locked horns in the final of football’s oldest competition. The Red Devils will be eager to end another season of disappointment by defeating their bitter rivals, who have once again won the Premier League. Here is our Manchester United predicted lineup.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup for FA Cup Final

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Manchester United have mostly been seen in a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, with André Onana in goal. Diogo Dalot has been a mainstay at full-back, with Casemiro filling in at centre-back, which is an experiment that hasn’t gone particularly well. Jonny Evans started in the game against Crystal Palace, where they were destroyed 4-0 at Selhurst Park. Lisandro Martinez was back in the recent 2-0 win over Brighton, and to see him back will be a boost on and off the pitch. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a consistent starter and sometimes changed positions with Dalot.

In midfield, the introduction of Kobbie Mainoo has been a much-needed addition, with the promising teenager showing what a talent he is. Sofyan Amrabat has been used in midfield during the Casemiro in defence experiment. Christian Eriksen had appeared in midfield, but the Amrabat-Mainoo partnership has been the more constant.

Alejandro Garnacho has been a permanent fixture on either wing, with Antony, Scott McTominay and Amad Diallo appearing on the other wing at different times. Bruno Fernandes and the ever-present Rasmus Hojlund have been the mainstays in the attack.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

The Red Devils recorded a much-needed win over Brighton on the final day of the season, winning 2-0, with goals from Dalot and Højlund. This final-day win backed up their 3-2 victory, in a chaotic fixture against Newcastle United.

Erik ten Hag has endured a terrible season in the Old Trafford hot seat, with many players struggling with form and a plethora of injuries limiting the Dutchman’s choices. The decline of the ageing Casemiro has seen gaps appearing in midfield, which many opposition players have exploited this season. His move into defence hasn’t helped his form or the clubs. Despite the disappointing season, the Red Devils go into the cup final with two successive victories.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

The return of the soon-to-depart Raphael Varane will be a boost for the final, as will be the return of Martinez. We see both returning defenders as starting the final. Mason Mount, Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof look set to be available, with Maguire and Luke Shaw missing out due to injury.
