Manchester United ended the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend, finishing eighth in the standings. Recent results have cast serious doubts over Ten Hag’s future at the club, but the Red Devils still have a crucial game to play before going on vacation.

United have a chance to end the season on a positive note by beating their city rivals. The Red Devils will have a few key players back for the game, but Maguire hasn’t recovered in time.

Latest Update From Ten Hag

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final, Ten Hag confirmed Mason Mount, Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof are all available for selection after returning to team training. Maguire, however, will stay out of action against Manchester City.

Asked about the England international’s recovery, Ten Hag added: “It [the injury] didn’t heal as expected.”

The Dutchman will also have Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane at his disposal after the pair’s return to the squad against Brighton.

Maguire’s delayed comeback is not the only injury concern for the Three Lions ahead of the upcoming European Championships. Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane missed his side’s final game of the season after suffering a setback in his recovery from a back issue.

Gareth Southgate omitted Tyrone Mings from his provisional squad for the tournament. The Aston Villa star is continuing his recovery after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery in August. Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon is also out with an ankle issue, but Eddie Howe has confirmed his injury is not serious.
