England Handed Worrying Harry Kane Update Ahead of Squad Announcement

Harry Kane’s back issue has “gotten worse”, forcing him to stay out of Bayern Munich’s final game of the season. The England captain is in a race against time to get fit for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament.

The Torjägerkanone Winner

Kane’s £82 million move to Bayern Munich was a statement transfer for both parties. The striker left Tottenham for a club with better prospects of winning domestic and European trophies, while the German giants showed they are open to completing big-money moves for their top targets.

A full season (and zero trophies) later, Kane has broken a host of incredible records at Bayern while establishing himself as their new reliable goalscorer. The England captain ended the Bundesliga campaign with 36 goals and eight assists in 32 appereances, claiming Kicker’s “Torjägerkanone” award as the league’s top-scorer.

After ending his debut season at Bayern without a trophy, he has another chance to lead England to glory this summer. However, the striker’s fitness struggles have cast doubts over his chances of representing the Three Lions in the upcoming European Championships.

Latest update from Thomas Tuchel

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Bayern Munich’s final game of the season against Hoffenheim, Tuchel confirmed Kane’s absence due to injury. The striker hasn’t returned to training since his side’s 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid earlier this month.

On Friday, a report from the Athletic claimed the England captain had left Germany to continue his rehab process. The latest setback is a major concern for Gareth Southgate, who is set to announce his 26-man squad for the Euro 2024 tournament on Tuesday.

Unlike Kane, who is expected to get a call-up despite continuing his recovery, Tyrone Mings is set to miss the upcoming tournament in Germany. The Aston Villa star, who featured three times for the Three Lions at Euro 2022, underwent surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in August last year.
