Phil Foden and Erling Haaland both missed Manchester City’s training on Tuesday. The Citizens have suffered two more injury scares as they prepare to take on Brighton upon their return to the Premier League.

However, only three days later, they bounced back to reach the FA Cup final after a narrow victory over Chelsea. Kevin De Bruyne returned to the starting lineup despite his injury scare against Real Madrid. However, Manuel Akanji and Haaland stayed out of the matchday squad.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now handed another injury blow ahead of their match against Brighton on Thursday.

According to Sky Sports, Haaland stayed out of his side’s training session on Tuesday, still recovering from the muscle injury that he picked up against Real Madrid. Another notable absentee was Foden, who played for 90 minutes against Chelsea on Saturday. The club have offered no explanation for the “world-class” star’s absence.

John Stones, who came off at half-time against the Blues, trained alongside his teammates. In his press conference on Wednesday, Guardiola is also expected to offer an update on Akanji, who missed the FA Cup game with a knock.

THe manager fumed at his side’s congested schedule after the Chelsea game, saying (via ESPN): “It’s unacceptable to let us play today. It’s impossible, for the health of the players. It’s not normal.”

His side are set to have a two-week period without mid-week games soon, a perfect opportunity for their injured stars to return.
