A Brilliant (But Costly) Comeback
Newcastle faced West Ham in their first game after the international break, hoping to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Manchester City.
The Magpies went ahead through Alexander Isak’s early penalty but ended the first half being 2-1 behind as Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus scored for the visitors.

Things got even worse for Newcastle when Jarrod Bowen put the Hammers ahead 3-1 only three minutes after the break. However, the hosts completed a sensational comeback through Harvey Barnes’ brace and another penalty from Isak, winning the game 4-3.
The Magpies clinched a fantastic home win but had three players forced off the pitch with injury. Lascelles and Miggy Almiron picked up knee injuries, while Tino Livramento twisted his ankle.
New Update on Newcastle Captain
On Sunday, the club confirmed Lascelles suffered an ACL injury in his right knee. The “unbelievable” centre-back, who played for 17 minutes against West Ham, is set to undergo surgery next week.

In addition to Sandro Tonali, who is serving a 10-month ban from football for betting offences, Newcastle has ten more players on the sidelines.
Lascelles joins Sven Botman, Livramento and Kieran Trippier as key defenders that are set to miss the upcoming match against Everton. Matt Target is also out with injury but he’s expected to make his comeback against the Toffees.
Further up the pitch, Lewis Miley is out with a back issue while there’s no timeline for Miguel Almiron’s comeback from his knee injury against West Ham. Joelinton and Callum Wilson are both set to miss the rest of the season, but goalkeeper Nick Pope could be back for the final weeks of the campaign.
