Chelsea were surprisingly quiet all through the 2024 winter transfer window after earning a reputation for spending big under their new owners. Yet the Blues are expected to be quite proactive in the summer transfer window and there has been an interesting update on links to RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
Chelsea’s Position on Potential Dani Olmo Signing Clarified
Are Chelsea Really Pushing for Olmo’s Transfer?
Fabrizio Romano has clarified Chelsea’s links to the Spanish winger and has reiterated that he isn’t aware of the London side having shown any concrete interest in signing him. The journalist makes it clear that Olmo is going to have a release clause of around £51.2 million that will become active in the summer, something that any club can trigger if they really want to sign him.

However, Romano also insists that “at the moment” everything is quiet between the Spain international and the Blues, and that it needs to be seen what happens over this because of how well the 25-year-old is performing this season. Olmo, who has proven his versatility by being able to play in either wing or even as an attacking midfielder this season, has scored seven goals and provided four assists across all competitions for RB Leipzig so far this season.

Who Are Chelsea Interested to Sign in Summer Window?
Chelsea have experienced issues when it comes to scoring goals this season, which is why they’ve only scored 47 goals in the Premier League (in 27 matches) and are currently lingering in 11th place. The Blues are likely to improve their frontline in the summer and are reported to be interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. They have also been linked to OGC Nice defender Yerry Lono amid their desire to further bolster their backline, with Thiago Silva’s contract expiring at the end of June later this year.

With that being said, the Blues don’t seem to be particularly focused on signing a versatile winger like Olmo right now. The 25-year-old, who was praised earlier this season for his “incredible” work ethic, is likely to gain a lot of interest in the summer due to his lucrative release clause and it remains to be seen if Chelsea gets in the race to sign him or not.
