Are Liverpool Threatened By Alexander-Arnold Links?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Real Madrid are currently monitoring the situation of the English full-back heading into the summer transfer window. They are keeping an eye out on his contract situation as his current deal is poised to expire at the end of June, 2025.

The journalist reaffirms that Alexander-Arnold is not currently holding talks with the club over a new long-term contract. However, Romano also states that Liverpool are not showing any desire to sell their youth academy product as his contract moves nearer to expiration.

It is also noted that the 25-year-old’s own views on this matter remain unknown, but the Reds are currently not panicking over his future. The Englishman has been out of action for the past month and had his share of injury struggles, allowing youngster Conor Bradley to break through to the first-team.

What Are Liverpool’s Current Objectives?

Liverpool recently announced the acquisition of ex-Bournemouth man Richard Hughes to take over as their new sporting director in the summer and he will work under Michael Edwards, the chief of football operations. For now, the major objective is obviously to find a successor to Klopp and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has been strongly linked as the ideal replacement as he guides his side to the Bundesliga title.

However, the new sporting director will also likely be involved in talks with players over contract extensions. While the Reds might have other persisting issues to look after, it’s time they look into offering Alexander-Arnold a new lucrative contract to keep his head from being swayed by a potential move to Spain.

The 25-year-old, who was hailed as “excellent” last year for his performances for England in a midfield role, has made 29 appearances this season in which he’s scored two goals and provided 10 assists.
