‘Nothing Concrete’: Future of Bayern Munich Key Defender Uncertain Amid Real Madrid Interest

Bayern Munich Predicted Lineup vs Werder Bremen for September 21

Bayern Munich still haven’t given up on their hopes of tying Alphonso Davies to a new contract. The Canada international is heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid. But the Bavarians could make a final push to keep him at Allianz Arena ahead of the next season.

Is Bayern Munich Ready to Allow Alphonso Davies Departure?

A Key Player

Since his record-breaking move to Allianz Arena in 2019, Davies has developed into a key player at the left-hand side of Bayern Munich’s backline. Exceptional speed and dribbling skills have allowed the Canadian left-back to maintain his starting spot under four different coaches.

Davies’ initial contract at Bayern was set to expire in 2023, but it was soon extended for another two years. The club have rejected several offers for the left-back in the past. But the prospect of losing him for free next year might convince the German champions to accept an offer this summer.

Alphonso Davies’ Agent Gives Key Update

As per Fabrizio Romano on X, Alphonso Davies’ agent Nedal Huoseh has played down any rumours of Davies making a move away from Bayern. However, Huoseh has not completely ruled out a move for the player, who will still consider his options in the months to come.

Max Eberl to Enter Contract Negotiations

Bayern Munich appointed Max Eberl as their new sporting director earlier this month as they prepare for a series of crunch contract negotiations before the summer transfer window. While talks with Davies, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala haven’t started yet, Eberl has already reached an agreement to extend Mathys Tel’s contract until 2029.

Asked about the club’s chances of keeping Davies, Eberl told Abendzeitung (via Fabrizio Romano): “I haven’t spoken to Alphonso Davies about the new deal yet.

“But I always have hope; the story is still open. I won’t give it up.”

According to Sky Germany, the Bavarians are unwilling to meet Davies’ salary demands of around £17 million. However, they still haven’t given up on their efforts to reach an agreement with the defender, who has emerged as a top transfer target for Real Madrid.

How Much Will Real Madrid Have to Pay for Davies?

Real Madrid are eager to add a new left-back to their squad despite having Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy for the position. Davies, who has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu since 2022, is reportedly among the club’s main defensive targets for the summer.

German publication Bild has claimed that Bayern have put a £42 million price tag on the Canada international. However, Real Madrid are looking to enter the negotiations with a “much lower” offer. The Spanish giants already have a verbal agreement in place with the defender.

Potential Replacements for Davies at Allianz Arena

Bayern signed Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro on a free contract in the summer. But the Portuguese international has struggled to regain his best form since coming back from a serious calf injury earlier this season.

Theo Hernandez is reportedly Bayern’s main candidate to replace Davies in the summer. The AC Milan defender, whose contract at San Siro runs until 2026, has been on the club’s radar since last year.

Another rumoured target is Miguel Gutiérrez, who has attracted interest from a number of elite clubs since joining Girona from Real Madrid in 2022.
