Bayern Munich Predicted Lineup vs Lazio For March 5

Bayern Munich squad line up for pre match photo

After the 1-0 defeat away to Lazio three weeks ago in the first leg of the Round of 16, Bayern Munich will need to rise to a level that they haven’t been on lately if they are to progress to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Last Word on Football brings you our Bayern Munich predicted lineup for their do- or- die second leg Lazio matchup in Europe’s premier club competition.

How Bayern Munich Have Lined Up Recently

In their most recent domestic game, the Bavarians started with Manuel Neuer in goal. Joshua Kimmich and Raphael Guerreiro were the outside backs. Eric Dier played alongside Min-jae Kim in the centre of defence. Meanwhile, Leon Goretzka played the holding role next to Aleksandar Pavlovic, as Mathys Tel, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane made up the front four.

That means that coach Thomas Tuchel made two changes to the lineup after the previous win against Leipzig, the week before, both of which were forced on him. Kim replaced the suspended Matthijs de Ligt, while Tel started for the injured Leroy Sané.

Defensively, there have been generally more changes than in the attack lately. Though injuries and suspensions played a part in that, it is also true that Tuchel does not yet know who his best centre-back pairing are at the moment. Recent performances have been too inconsistent from players in those positions.

Offensively, there simply are not enough options available. After the long-term injury to Kingsley Coman, Bayern decided to bring in next summer’s planned signing Bryan Zaragoza from CF Granada on loan in January. So far, however, he has only made one short-term appearance off the bench.

Last weekend, he was again an unused substitute for 90 minutes, alongside only backup keeper Sven Ulreich and youth team starlet Lovro Zvonarek.

Bayern Munich Recent Form and Tactics

The Bavarians are in a horrible run of form. They have only won one match in the last five in all competitions, losing the first three in that sequence. There are even several reports in the German press that indicate that Tuchel will be sacked immediately should the team get knocked out of the Champions League by Lazio on Tuesday.

The interesting thing about that is that the coach is already set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Bayern are usually quick to correct any false reporting when it comes to rumors of such magnitude about them. The fact that they haven’t done so in this case leads us to believe that there may indeed be such an ultimatum from the club hierarchy. In this all-or-nothing match, the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation is unlikely to be tempered with.

Bayern Munich Injuries to Consider

Sacha Boey, Coman, Bouna Sarr, Daniel Peretz, and Noussair Mazraoui remain out injured, while Davies may be an option off the bench and Serge Gnaby could also be in the squad. As far as Sané is concerned, he trained over the weekend after having missed the Friday night game. Whether or not he will start is still not clear.
